Generic Android tablet PC - AirpadX, and its version of Android

For generic gadgets, one thing is usually true - lower (often much lower) price.

The most uncertain part is the quality and features. Vendors usually tell what their products do, but rarely what they cannot do even though they are supposed to.

X10 does not even hide the fact that their Android Table PC AirpadX is a rebranded Zenithink ZT-280-C91.  It comes with its packaging box clearly labeled "MID", a name apparently used by Zenithink.  I would not have ordered this tablet PC if I had known it is a MID product because I read quite a few unfavorable reviews of MID tablets.

AirpadX apparently does not comply with Google's compatibility requirements because Android Market, which is supposed to be preinstalled, does not work.  X10 does not tell its customers this important piece of information - AirpadX cannot use the largest app market. Instead, they direct their customers to the Amazon Appstore.

I have little use of tablet PCs because I usually have access to a PC or laptop.  I tend to write frequently, and tablet PC is unsuitable for high speed writing. I bought this tablet PC primarily for testing a few Android apps.  It has turned out to be much better than I thought.  It is stable, reasonably fast.

A deeper look through Android API Build reveals the messy information in the appended table.  It shows that X10 does not even try to put their name in the installed OS, neither does Zenithink.
