Google Maps' Globe View grayed out in Chrome

If Google Maps' Globe View is grayed out, you cannot rotate or tilt the maps. Globe View is a very useful function for many purposes. For example, when you try to match the map with an aerial photo, rotating the map to match the orientation of the map with that of the photo can be very helpful.

To remedy this problem, first browse Chrome's GPU settings chrome://gpu/

If you see all the following settings with hardware acceleration disabled, you need to enable hardware acceleration.

*   WebGL
*   WebGL2
*   WebGPU

Check out this answer to enable hardware acceleration:

Open Chrome settings and search for acceleration, enable "Use graphics acceleration when available".
